Big in Japan 2026 is a conceptual symphonic concert that celebrates the musical legacy of Japanese pop culture. Returning after a previous success, the production highlights how classical orchestration intersects with the fantasy worlds of Japanese comics, films, and video games. Conceived and curated by Magnus Johansson, the program is designed to engage fans of cosplay, manga, and gaming with a handpicked selection of iconic soundtracks. The Malmö Symphony Orchestra performs under the baton of Damian Iorio, bringing digital and animated worlds to life in a traditional concert hall setting. With a total running time of about two hours including a 30-minute intermission, the concert unfolds in two parts to explore different facets of the Japanese pop culture soundscape.
