About this event

Ballet director and choreographer Karl Alfred Schreiner creates his version of the classic fairy tale for the whole family, set to the enchanting music of Johann Strauss, the "Waltz King". The production is designed as a dreamlike evening featuring fairies, magical animals, and a pair of lovers whose imagination proves stronger than societal conventions and envy. When Johann Strauss died in 1899, he left his ballet Aschenbrödel as a fragment, which has long awaited rediscovery. This production brings the optimistic tale to life through classical ballet infused with modern theatrical magic, employing the full forces of the Gärtnerplatztheater’s ballet and orchestra.
