The “superb pianist” (The New York Times) Jean-Yves Thibaudet joins Rafael Payare and the Orchestra for Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 2, with its tender opening giving way to an extroverted role for the solo piano culminating in a fiery finale. With his final symphony, unfinished at his death, Bruckner pushes the boundaries of 19th-century harmony in this work of tremendous emotional power.
