After a career spanning more than thirty years, Sandrine Piau remains one of the great French voices. Initially revealed by William Christie in the baroque repertoire, she has since conquered the works of Mozart, Debussy, Poulenc, and Saariaho with the same textual intelligence and purity of tone. For this recital, part of the "Midi du Capitole" series, she reunites with her frequent collaborator, pianist David Kadouch. Kadouch is an internationally recognized soloist and chamber musician who has partnered with the Capuçon brothers and the Quatuor Ébène. Together, Piau and Kadouch previously recorded Voyage intime, an album where German lieder and French mélodies converse in a musical journey haunted by the presence of death and the desire for an elsewhere.
