Nøddeknækkeren – Alsion, Soenderborg

About this event

This production of "NØDDEKNÆKKEREN" is presented by the Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester (South Denmark Philharmonic) as a special holiday event. Rather than a full-scale traditional ballet staging, the performance is delivered in a reduced version that adapts the classic work into a family-friendly concert format. The artistic concept integrates live orchestral music conducted by Nathan Brock with narrative storytelling and dance. The production utilizes a narrator to guide the audience through the magical story, specifically casting the character of Drosselmeyer as the storyteller. Visual and choreographic elements are provided by dancers from the Sønderjyllands Danseakademi (South Jutland Dance Academy), bridging the gap between a purely symphonic concert and a staged ballet. This hybrid format is designed to enchant both children and adults, maintaining the magical Christmas traditions associated with the piece since its inception in 1892.
