This Pacific Symphony production, part of the 26-27 Classical series, highlights the virtuosity of pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii. The artistic vision centers on delivering a masterpiece of sweeping melody and towering emotional power through Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3. Under the baton of Alexander Shelley, the orchestra complements the featured concerto with a performance of Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra. The production is designed to showcase both individual instrumental brilliance and the collective color and character of the symphony. To enhance the audience experience, a preview talk by Classical California host Alan Chapman takes place at 7:00 p.m. before each 8:00 p.m. performance.
