About this event

This production serves as the directorial graduation project for Calixto María Schmutter, marking their first engagement at an Austrian state theater after several works at German city and state theaters. The staging is developed in cooperation with the Thomas-Bernhard-Institut of the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg. Schmutter's directorial approach combines a deeply dramatic-theatrical foundation with elements of pop and kitsch. The production places a strong emphasis on narration and visual imagery, integrating music and sound to create an experience that is designed to be both broadly appealing and multi-layered. The aesthetic leans into the concept of an all-inclusive resort, utilizing the "Isla Bonita" framework to explore themes of exotic summer romance and the commodification of untouched nature.
