About this event
The "JAZZ IM HDM" series presents a diverse array of contemporary jazz formats in the Großer Saal of the Haus der Musik Innsbruck. The season opens with a solo piano performance by the internationally acclaimed Fred Hersch, known for his profound musical depth and 17 Grammy nominations. This is followed by the John Arman Quartett, presenting "Update," a program of new compositions characterized by clear forms, melodic conciseness, and improvisational openness. The series also highlights large-scale ensemble works. The HDM Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, a flexible collective of freelance musicians, teachers, and students from Tyrol, explores experimental sound spaces and contemporary jazz at the intersection of improvisation and new music. Finally, the Jazz Orchester Tirol reimagines Werner Pirchner's legendary 1973 release "Ein halbes Doppelalbum," bringing its provocative blend of alpine tradition and avant-garde jazz into a modern concert setting through new arrangements.
