About this event

Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect presents two Weill Recital Hall programs in the Connections: Ensemble Connect and Decoda series during the 2026–2027 season. The October 26, 2026 concert is a characteristically adventurous chamber program spotlighting distinctive, underperformed 20th-century works by Ligeti, Loeffler, and Kodály, and anchored by Bartók’s Contrasts—originally commissioned by Benny Goodman and Joseph Szigeti. Following the performance, audience members are invited to the post-concert Salon Encores reception in the Jacobs Room. The February 23, 2027 concert continues the season with a wide-ranging mix that pairs Copland’s Sextet and Brahms’s Clarinet Quintet with Reena Esmail’s Khirkiyaan for brass quintet and a New York premiere of a Carnegie Hall commission by Hannah Ishizaki. Both evenings are part of Ensemble Connect’s ongoing exploration of chamber music’s breadth and vitality.
