Part of the "Philhar’ Intime" series, this concert is the second chapter in the centenary celebrations of György Kurtág. The program stages a cross-century dialogue between Kurtág and his model Robert Schumann, alternating their works to reveal resonances and hidden connections. In his Homage to Schumann, Kurtág avoids direct quotation and instead weaves an intimate conversation of suspended gestures, mysterious silences, and sudden surges. This piece interlocks with Schumann’s String Quartet No. 1 and his Märchenerzählungen (Fairy Tales), concise vignettes where instruments converse like characters. Renowned champion of contemporary music Pierre-Laurent Aimard joins musicians of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France to bring this poetic journey to life.
