About this event
George Sand, a passionate witness of her time, brings together Chopin, Liszt, and Pauline Viardot for the span of a concert. Their music enters into dialogue with the writer’s words, weaving an intimate portrait of an era when art, friendship, and love intertwined beneath the golden light of Nohant. More than a novelist, George Sand was a free spirit and the beating heart of an artistic circle that helped shape Romanticism. This concert stages a sensitive encounter between her pen and three musicians who shared her life. Frédéric Chopin, her companion for nine years, found at Nohant the refuge where some of his finest pages matured. Franz Liszt, a loyal friend, shared her aesthetic ideals, while Pauline Viardot, a prodigious singer and composer, was her kindred sister. Chamber and piano works by these three figures interlace with passages from Sand’s autobiography Histoire de ma vie, where she reveals her most vivid memories. A journey where notes and words become one.
