Magdalena Kožená and Malcolm Martineau create magical moments where mezzo-soprano and piano blend seamlessly. Their programme brings Czech music by Janáček and Dvořák, alongside songs by Wolf and Schönberg’s light-footed Brettl-Lieder. Kožená often chooses repertoire rooted in her Czech heritage: Janáček sounds raw and truthful, Dvořák warm and lyrical. The Austrian Hugo Wolf contributes refined songs of great psychological insight. The concert has one interval and is part of Het Concertgebouw’s Sunday-afternoon vocal series in the Kleine Zaal.
