About this event

This special concert is organized as part of the 40th-anniversary celebrations of the Musée d'Orsay. In a unique partnership between Radio France and the museum, musicians of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France take over the museum's nave (a former railway station turned into a major art institution). The event explores the dialogue between visual art and music, echoing the museum’s collection—from Bonnard or Vuillard’s pianos to Toulouse-Lautrec’s café-concerts and Degas’s Opera Orchestra. At its center is a bespoke brass-and-percussion arrangement of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, specially commissioned by Radio France and Camera Lucida from David Guerrier, who also conducts the ensemble.
