This concert opens the ERSO Centenary Festival, celebrating 100 years of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. For this November program, ERSO’s Honorary Artistic Director for Life, Neeme Järvi, has curated a vivid journey through Estonian musical identity alongside a classical masterwork. To mark the orchestra’s milestone, Haydn’s spirited Symphony No. 100, the “Military,” sets an exuberant tone. The national thread runs through Eduard Tubin’s Suite on Estonian Dance Tunes, spotlighting simple and joyful Estonian melodies, and culminates in Villem Kapp’s majestic Symphony No. 2—music with deep cultural resonance, often heard at Estonian Song Festivals.
