Ton Koopman, a pioneer of historically informed performance, reunites with the musicians of the Orchestre de chambre de Paris to deliver a rendition of Mozart’s Requiem. Koopman, who came to early music alongside figures like Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Jordi Savall, applies the precepts that have guided him since the 1970s to 18th-century music. Having previously directed the orchestra in 2024 and 2025, he aims to rediscover the original sounds and spirit of this choral masterpiece, operating under the credo of "playing with the heart". The production pairs the Requiem with Mozart's Symphony No. 40. The symphony's breathless phrases and impartial finale are programmed to resonate with the stormy "Dies iræ" and the poignant "Lacrimosa" of the Requiem. The performance brings together emerging talents, associating the Orchestre de chambre de Paris with the young singers of the Maîtrise de Notre-Dame and the soloists of the Académie de l’Opéra national de Paris.
