About this event

Calgary Opera's production of Puccini's Tosca is presented as a gripping, pulse-pounding political thriller where passion and power collide. The production leans into the intense, 18-hour timeframe of the original story, set on June 17–18, 1800, in Rome. It highlights the protagonist's full diva personality, showcasing her uncompromising poise as a respected public figure and her fierce determination to fight back against corruption. The staging is directed by Joshua Borths and conducted by Calgary Opera's Artistic Director Jonathan Brandani. The production brings together the Calgary Opera Chorus, the Cantaré Children's Choir, and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra to deliver the ravishingly beautiful music and emotionally explosive masterpiece.
