This production of “Das Orakel spricht” marks director Katharina Stoll’s first staging at Staatstheater Mainz. Stoll, known for work with the collective Glossy Pain invited to festivals such as Edinburgh Fringe, Radikal Jung, and the Mülheimer Theatertage, brings a distinctive voice to Liv Strömquist’s 2024 graphic novel. The staging is created for U17, the intimate space of Staatstheater Mainz, with stage and costume design by Wicke Naujoks and dramaturgy by Katrin Schmitz. The text is presented in German in a translation by Katharina Erben. The concept channels Strömquist’s sharp wit and analytical flair, transforming the graphic novel’s rapid-fire cultural references—from historical figures to internet icons—into dynamic stage action.
