About this event

This concert production unites two significant works of the choral-orchestral repertoire at the Ruhrfestspielhaus Recklinghausen. The program pairs Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's expressive Psalm 42 with Joseph Haydn's grand Great Mariazell Mass (Missa Cellensis). The event is a collaborative local cultural effort, featuring the Städtischer Chor Recklinghausen with the regional symphonic partner, Neue Philharmonie Westfalen. Under the leadership of Elisabeth Strake, the production emphasizes the rich acoustic possibilities of the Ruhrfestspielhaus for large-scale sacred and symphonic music outside of the traditional summer festival season.
