With Bach, nothing is ever ordinary: everything is masterful. A genius composer, tireless teacher, and meticulous craftsman, he could do everything with organs—tune them, repair them, tame them, and above all, transfigure them. Much of his output is intimately tied to the instrument and went on to inspire, century after century, the French organ school. Olivier Latry, a leading figure of the instrument, honors this total genius through the art of transcription: Bach revisited by Bach himself, then reimagined by great masters such as Dupré, Duruflé, Vierne, and Widor. This concert is described as a joyful display of power, invention, and admiration, where the organ becomes at once an orchestra, a cathedral, and a playground.
