This symphonic concert traces an aquatic and poetic journey inspired by nature. Under guest conductor Tianyi Lu, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra explores evocative orchestral textures, from the swift currents of Bohemian rivers to Nordic soundscapes. At the center, OSM concertmaster Andrew Wan performs Sibelius’s Violin Concerto, portrayed as an inner torrent that blends lyricism with intensity. The program also includes a world premiere by Canadian composer Cassandra Miller, positioned after intermission to bridge the romantic fervor of Sibelius with the luminous dance energy of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Suite.
