Romeo, Julia & – Theater Regensburg, Regensburg

About this event

ROMEO, JULIA & is not a traditional retelling of Shakespeare's play, but a continuation of its source material. This contemporary dance theatre piece frames love as a universal human right that transcends gender, origin, and identity. Guest choreographers Dan Shlomo Pelleg and Marko E. Weigert transform the classic narrative into a pulsating interplay of movement and sound, letting questions about relationships break through physically on stage. The graphic and emotional leitmotif is the ampersand symbol “&”, representing openness and connection. It invites us to think beyond borders: not just Romeo and Juliet, but ROMEO, JULIA & — a credo for everything love can be today. The work stands as a liberal plea for diversity, humanity, and new, versatile forms of relationships of all kinds.
