The "Eröffnungskonzert Barocktage 2026" launches the Staatsoper Unter den Linden’s early music festival under the banner "Combattimento – Love that leads to death." Led by Christina Pluhar, who also performs on theorbo, the concert features Ensemble L’Arpeggiata. At its core are moving scenes from Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo and the highly dramatic Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda. Additional vocal and instrumental selections by Luigi Rossi, Antonio Sartorio, Lorenzo Allegri, and Maurizio Cazzati enrich the arc of the evening. The result is a curated musical drama that intertwines love, conflict, and fate across 17th-century sound worlds.
