Weihnachten Bei Den Buddenbrooks – Laeiszhalle, Hamburg

About this event

Weihnachten bei den Buddenbrooks combines spoken literature and choral music. Axel Milberg reads from Thomas Mann's Lübeck-set novel, while the CPE.Bach.Chor.Hamburg provides the choral component. The production is framed as a pre-Christmas program focused on the atmosphere of a North German Christmas around 1900. The audience is taken into the Buddenbrook family's festive Christmas setting through the reading and musical accompaniment. Hansjörg Albrecht leads the production and is credited with piano and musical direction. The vocal participants are Valentina Farcas, Magdalena Hinz, Santiago Sánchez and an unnamed bass identified as N.N.
