About this event

In the third part of Richard Wagner’s epic Ring cycle, director Tobias Kratzer and his team continue their distinctive vision of the Nibelung saga. While Das Rheingold and Die Walküre examined the resurgence of the gods and its consequences, Kratzer uses Siegfried’s story to fuse psychological depth with fresh perspectives on myth. Rejecting the notion of Siegfried as a light-hearted intermezzo, he frames it instead as a coming-of-age thriller that confronts the break with one’s forebears and points directly toward Götterdämmerung. General Music Director Vladimir Jurowski conducts this third installment, continuing his musical leadership of the cycle. A co-production with the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona. Introductions in German take place one hour before each performance (except the premiere) in the Capriccio-Saal. The premiere on 29 October 2026 will be broadcast live on BR-Klassik radio.
