About this event
This concert production presents Franz Liszt's monumental oratorio Christus in the historic Großer Saal of the Wiener Musikverein. The event is organized by the Volksbildungskreis as a rental event and serves as the opening concert for the 2026–2027 season of their long-running Musik der Meister classical concert cycle. The performance brings together major Hungarian musical forces, featuring the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra and the Ungarischer Nationalchor (Hungarian National Choir), led by conductor Gergely Kesselyák. The presentation of the oratorio is divided into two main halves separated by an intermission, respecting the work's massive architectural scale. While the work is scored for vocal soloists, mixed choir, and orchestra, the specific vocal soloists for this performance have not yet been announced in the preliminary program materials.
