About this event

This production features the Münchner Philharmoniker on tour, performing at the historic Großer Saal of the Wiener Musikverein. Under the baton of Lahav Shani, the orchestra presents a program that bridges intense Russian 20th-century repertoire with a monumental 19th-century suite. The concert is presented by the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien as part of their 2026/27 season offerings. The performance highlights the collaboration between conductor Lahav Shani and acclaimed violinist Janine Jansen. The programming pairs Shostakovich's demanding first violin concerto with Ravel's vibrant orchestration of Mussorgsky's piano cycle, offering a showcase of both virtuosic solo capabilities and expansive orchestral color.
