About this event
This concert marks the culmination of the New York Philharmonic's 2026 European tour, their first trip to Europe in a decade. The tour is a major milestone in Gustavo Dudamel's inaugural season as the Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Music & Artistic Director of the New York Philharmonic. The Vienna performance is presented at the Musikverein as a rented event hosted by the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien. The program echoes Dudamel's first performances with the New York Philharmonic 19 years earlier by spotlighting Prokofiev's Symphony No. 5. John Adams's On the Transmigration of Souls requires both adult and youth chorus. While New York and Paris tour stops list specific choirs, the local or touring choral ensembles for Vienna have not yet been announced.
