About this event

This concert, presented by the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien together with Jeunesse, features the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra (ORF RSO Wien) conducted by Ingo Metzmacher. The program is built around literary inspirations: Mendelssohn’s overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Wellesz’s Prospero’s Incantations in the first half, followed by Berlioz’s Harold in Italy after the interval. The performance takes place in the historic Großer Saal of the Vienna Musikverein, renowned for its acoustics. Violist Tabea Zimmermann appears as soloist in Berlioz’s symphony, bringing her celebrated artistry to the prominent viola role.
