About this event
Presented by the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien as the Wiener Concert-Verein’s ABO I program for the 2026/2027 season, this concert explores the theme “Ich warf eine Rose ins Meer … Der Zauber der Dualität” (The Magic of Duality). It reflects on how contrasts—light and dark, intellect and emotion, major and minor—shape human experience and create musical harmony. The evening opens with the classical poise of Marianna von Martines and Joseph Haydn, linked by Philipp Manuel Gutmann’s contemporary novelette for strings. After intermission, duality comes vividly to life through works for dual soloists: Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos and Françoise Choveaux’s tango for two pianos, bandoneon, and strings. The Wiener Concert-Verein performs under the baton of Andrea Götsch, with soloists Margarita Höhenrieder and Antti Siirala (pianos) and Sébastien Innocenti (bandoneon).
