About this event

For the first time since the 40th anniversary of Les Arts Florissants in 2019, William Christie and Paul Agnew reunite for a joint direction of this ensemble. The production offers an unparalleled insight into the transformative power of Monteverdi's music, exploring the madrigal in a variety of styles, from the purest polyphonic style to pieces rich in dissonances, through more elaborate works of a dancing nature. William Christie leads the continuo from the harpsichord, while Paul Agnew leads and sings in the vocal ensemble. The production is enriched by young singers, some from the Jardin des Voix school founded by the directors, introducing the next generation of vocalists to this specialized repertoire. The ensemble consists of 13 musicians in total: 6 singers and 7 instrumentalists.
