About this event

The Boston Early Music Festival Chamber Opera Series presents a period-inspired staging of Pyramus & Thisbe, complete with lavish costumes and elegant Baroque dance. Musical Directors Paul O'Dette and Stephen Stubbs lead the ensemble, with Robert Mealy serving as Concertmaster. The production integrates the Boston Early Music Festival Dance Ensemble to animate Lampe’s gleeful mock-opera, blending Shakespeare’s words with 18th-century musical wit and selections from Purcell’s The Fairy Queen. Creative credits include stage direction by Marie-Nathalie Lacoursière (also choreographer and movement director) and Gilbert Blin, costumes by Anna Kjellsdotter, and assistant stage direction by Grant Sorenson. Executive Producer Kathleen Fay oversees the project. This chamber-scale production is designed for clarity, humor, and historically informed style during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend tour.
