2026 Festival District – James Clemens High School, Madison

The Walter S. Trumbauer High School Theatre Festival has provided quality training and performance opportunities for Alabama theatre students at the high school level since 1940. The educational impact of this event is substantial, offering a platform for 9th through 12th-grade students to showcase their theatrical skills across various disciplines. The festival consists of 30 individual events, a one-act play festival, and a studio theatre one-act play festival. Students qualify for the state competition by earning a rating of "superior" at one of these seven district festivals. At all levels of competition, students receive critiques from qualified teachers, professionals, and theatre practitioners, allowing them to improve their theatrical skills. The 2026 District Festival serves as the primary qualifying round, with registration opening on September 1 and closing on October 14 at 5:00 PM. Successful participants will advance to the State Festival scheduled for December 4–5, 2026.
