Walter Trumbauer High School Theatre Festival — State Festival (2026) – TBD San Diego, San Diego

About this event

The Walter Trumbauer High School Theatre Festival has provided quality training and performance opportunities for Alabama theatre students at the high school level since 1940. The State Festival features over 30 individual events, group acting and musical categories, a one-act play festival, and a studio theatre play festival for grades 9–12. It also includes scholarship auditions and college screenings for high school seniors and junior college students. Students qualify for state by earning a “superior” rating at one of seven district festivals. At every level, participants receive critiques from qualified teachers, professionals, and theatre practitioners to help develop their skills. The two-day event culminates in an Awards Ceremony recognizing outstanding achievement in technical and performance categories. In addition, two one-acts are selected to represent Alabama at the Southeastern Theatre Conference in the spring.
