About this event
Haydn Voyages: Music at the Maritime is a quarterly concert series in its eleventh season, presented in partnership by the Hausmann Quartet and the Maritime Museum of San Diego. Performances take place aboard the Berkeley, an 1898 steam ferryboat and National Historic Landmark that served San Francisco Bay for six decades. The series explores the evolution of the string quartet through Joseph Haydn’s quartet cycle, pairing his works with music by contemporaries, predecessors, and composers of today. The 2026 season marks the completion of the Hausmann Quartet’s traversal of the Haydn cycle. Each program features engaging, informative commentary between selections by UC Santa Barbara musicologist Derek Katz, enhancing the listening experience in this unique floating concert hall.
