Meet The Brass: March of the Toys is an interactive, imagination-filled concert designed as a joyful first introduction to the brass family for children ages 0–5. In a 30-minute format, trumpets, French horns, trombones, and tubas come to life through sounds of marching toys, silly horns, and gentle melodies. Children are invited to march, bounce, wiggle, dance, or simply listen in their own way while discovering how music can stomp, tiptoe, wiggle, and sway. Created in partnership with the SDSU Center for Autism, the event features a welcoming, sensory-friendly environment including a quiet room, sensory kits upon request, and social stories to support families. Pre-concert activities offer crafts and hands-on instrument exploration in collaboration with ChIMES (the San Diego Youth Symphony’s early childhood music program). All ages are welcome to attend; seating is General Admission, and tickets are required for everyone, including babes in arms.
