Locking, also known as Campbellocking, is a classic funk dance style marked by quick, rhythmic movement punctuated with sudden freezes and a playful spirit. Created by Don Campbell and popularized by The Lockers on Soul Train, the style blends dynamic grooves with bold character. This adult beginning class introduces the foundations of Locking while weaving in the history of the dance and Funk music culture. It offers a welcoming, joyful environment where newcomers and dancers from other styles can learn together to Funk tracks. Led by instructor Jan Kwong, the weekly sessions focus on both technique and context to build confidence and musicality.
