About this event

Bizet's thrilling masterpiece returns in a brand-new production drenched in Spanish Gothic splendor. Directed and designed by Thaddeus Strassberger, the staging aims to immerse audiences in the score's Spanish influences and dramatic intensity. The production features choreography by Antonio Najarro, who returns to LA Opera following his flamenco-infused work on Ainadamar. This production serves as a significant milestone for LA Opera, as it opens Domingo Hindoyan's inaugural season as the company's Music Director. The presentation is a collaborative effort, officially listed as a co-production of LA Opera, Houston Grand Opera, and Lyric Opera of Chicago.
