Founded in 1988 by composer and conductor Tore W. Aas, the Oslo Gospel Choir is regarded as one of Europe’s best-known gospel choirs. Comprising around 20 outstanding singers selected from across Norway, the choir performs traditional spirituals and gospel music at the highest level, setting musical benchmarks. The Stuttgart concert at the Liederhalle is presented under the banner “Best of 37 Years – Live in Concert.” The program includes classic gospel highlights, popular songs, and many of the choir’s own compositions that are sung by gospel choirs worldwide. The production is marked by perfectly crafted vocal arrangements and a powerful stage presence. The choir is also renowned for its social commitment: through benefit concerts and fundraising, more than 1 million US dollars have been donated to people in need in countries such as India and Rwanda, as well as to tsunami relief. The artists aim to live the message of their songs with authenticity, centered on hope and faith.
