Waggonhalle Produktion No. 40: Der Gott Des Gemetzels – Waggonhalle Kulturzentrum E.V., Marburg

About this event

“Waggonhalle Produktion No. 40” brings Yasmina Reza’s award-winning chamber play Der Gott des Gemetzels to the Marburg stage under the direction of Matze Schmidt. The production leans into the play’s dark humor and bitter-sweet undertones, spotlighting the nuanced facial expressions and gestures of its four protagonists as they oscillate between polite civility and simmering hostility. Premiering to a sold-out audience of about 150 in May 2023, the staging drew local praise as “great cinema.” After early-2026 dates were canceled due to illness, the run consolidated to a single replacement performance on 5 November 2026. The evening runs approximately 90 minutes and features a fixed four-person ensemble.
