The performances of Polish vibraphonist and composer Izabella Effenberg are events for both ear and eye, thanks in part to the many exotic instruments she masters. Her musical world moves between jazz, classical and world music. For this concert, the multi-award-winning musician brings together a group of renowned Polish jazz women—each a distinctive instrumentalist: guitarist Magdalena Czwojda, bassist Klaudia Wachtarczyk and drummer Dorota Piotrowska. Jazz in Poland has long held special significance as an expression of freedom, creativity and openness. Even in times of political repression it symbolized resistance and artistic independence. The Polish jazz tradition is rich and vibrant, shaped by figures such as Krzysztof Komeda. The concert is part of the “Jazz ist dienstags” series in the intimate cellar-club atmosphere of Theaterstübchen.
