About this event

Two of the greatest names in film history—Ennio Morricone and Nino Rota—are at the heart of this concert evening. The production presents the unforgettable sound worlds of these two Italian composers in full orchestral scoring on the big stage. Oscar-winner Ennio Morricone is regarded as one of the most prolific composers in film music, having written more than 500 scores for cinema and television. Nino Rota created the timeless musical atmospheres for the films of Federico Fellini and Luchino Visconti, which today belong to the international canon of film music. Musical direction and soloistic shaping are by the internationally active pianist Mike Kaufmann-Portnikow, known for his charismatic stage presence and his ability to build emotional bridges between audience and music. He offers fresh interpretations together with the Vienna Golden Sound Orchestra. He is joined by Viktor Andriichenko, a virtuoso countertenor and violinist whose charismatic voice has already graced opera stages in Vienna and Munich.
