The Staatsoperette Dresden presents a new, elaborate staging of the globally successful musical Evita, directed and choreographed by Simon Eichenberger. Eichenberger, known for his previous success with Pippin at the same venue, approaches the politically explosive and emotionally overwhelming material with strong visual imagery. The production explores the dichotomy of Eva Perón's life, balancing between veneration and contempt, myth and reality, and power and humanity. Musically, the production is led by Peter Christian Feigel, blending elements of rock, pop, tango, and grand opera. The staging holds historical significance for the Staatsoperette Dresden, as the venue hosted the rare DDR premiere of the western musical in 1987, which was enthusiastically received by audiences at the time. The creative team includes set design by Charles Quiggin and costume design by Aleš Valášek.
