The trio Berta Epple—renowned across the country for their subtly witty musical entertainment—arrives at the Grandhotel Waldlust with a trolley full of instruments for a colorful evening. But the hotel appears deserted. The lobby seems lifeless, and the concierge bell fades away eerily. Since problems in the hospitality industry are not unusual these days, the three musicians temporarily take over the duties of the absent staff, literally slipping into the roles of head receptionist, porter, and lobby boy. All the while, they never lose sight of their true calling: music for heart and mind, cheerfully offered to distract the audience from worries and cares. As the night goes on, it becomes clear that the hotel has indeed been abandoned by all good spirits. So Berta Epple pivot and decide to take over the place. In times of crisis, one should act counter-cyclically: while others file for insolvency and close their business, Berta Epple open a new life in a new hotel with a new program—Open All Year!
