Wolf Biermann & Freunde – Warte Nicht Auf Beßre Zeiten – Die Jubiläumskonzerte Zum 90. Geburtstag – Kölner Philharmonie, Cologne

About this event

Singer-songwriter and poet Wolf Biermann celebrates his 90th birthday in 2026. At the same time, the legendary 1976 Cologne concert marks its 50th anniversary—an event that led to his consequential expatriation and made him a key figure in German-German history. During the years of the GDR dictatorship, Biermann proved through his stance and art that freedom must be claimed, for which he was subjected to a total ban on performing and publishing for 12 years. For his 90th birthday and the 50th anniversary of the Cologne concert, three events will honor and celebrate Biermann’s political life’s work as well as his musical and poetic output. In these festive concerts, friends, artists, and companions meet Wolf Biermann, who himself brings his most important songs and poems to the stage. The lineup of guests varies at each event. A co-organizer of the concerts is Clouds Hill, Biermann’s music publisher and label, which continuously oversees his music catalog.
