Maschine - Lieder Mit Klassischen Saiten Und Streichquintett – Stadthalle Krone Bautzen, Bautzen

About this event

In this unexpected reimagining of his work, Dieter “Maschine” Birr tours with a string quintet. The concept is based on the idea that many of his classic hits and personal favorite songs lend themselves beautifully to a classical guise. The new arrangements for two violins, viola, cello, and double bass blur the boundaries between popular and classical music and create a special kind of magic. For the musical realization, Birr engaged highly professional musicians from Berlin’s classical scene, including artists active at the Staatsoper Berlin, the Deutsche Oper, and the Berliner Philharmoniker. The ensemble is complemented by keyboardist Marcus Gorstein, who already played in Maschine’s band in 2014. The program seamlessly matches the high quality level of his previous acoustic and talk formats.
