About this event

This production of Monteverdi's Il Ritorno d’Ulisse is presented by Impulse Art Management with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. The staging is directed by Rory Kinnear, bringing a distinct narrative lens to Monteverdi's penultimate opera. Musical direction is shared by tenor Mark Padmore and keyboardist Steven Devine, ensuring a historically informed approach. The cast features Baroque specialists, with Mark Padmore as Ulisse and Christine Rice as Penelope, supported by the period-instrument sound of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. The artistic vision emphasizes intimate human drama and clarity of text, and this configuration is available for touring from mid-October through early November 2026.
