Mnozil Brass - Strau$$ – Malmö Live Konserthus, Malmo

About this event

In the production Strau$$, Mnozil Brass gleefully pulls down the trousers of this composer phenomenon. The seven musicians of one of the world’s most famous brass ensembles tackle Austria’s national treasure Johann Strauss II with their hallmark blend of musical brilliance and absurd humor. The show explores the Strauss dynasty’s legacy through a prism of both reverence and satire, where the classical Viennese style meets a modern, theatrical aesthetic. Commissioned by Johann Strauss 2025 Vienna, the production forms part of the international celebration of the composer’s jubilee. Directed and choreographed by Sharon Booth, the musical experience is tightly interwoven with physical comedy and stage presence, making it far more than a traditional concert. It is a meticulously crafted piece of musical theatre that pushes the boundaries of what a brass ensemble can achieve on stage.
