About this event
Spain is the focus of this program, evoked through scattered fragments and a sense of nostalgia. Iberia, originally for piano, blends flamenco, fandango, and Romani influences with a luminous, impressionistic orchestral language. After this masterpiece of musical nationalism comes Francisco Coll’s Piano Concerto, written for the intelligent and sophisticated virtuosity of Kirill Gerstein. The program closes with The Three-Cornered Hat, created by Manuel de Falla for Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes.
