About this event

Titled “A Portrait of Youth,” this concert focuses on Richard Strauss’s early chamber works. A group of leading young Japanese virtuosos gathers to perform pieces that brim with the fresh sensibility marking the origins of Strauss’s creative life. The program opens with solo-and-piano works for cello, viola (in arranged songs), and violin, and culminates in the Piano Quartet performed by all four artists. A special highlight is Songs for viola and piano in an original arrangement by Takehiro Konoe and Tomoharu Ushida—heard uniquely in this concert.
