School Concerts in the Children’s Cathedral is a unique collaboration between Trondheim Symphony Orchestra & Opera (TSO) and the Children’s Cathedral project at Nidaros Cathedral. Its purpose is to give children and young people powerful musical experiences in a space imbued with wonder and historical atmosphere. The concerts are often part of the Cultural School Bag (Den Kulturelle Skolesekken) in Trondheim and are aimed especially at primary school pupils. The production emphasizes interaction and communication, with orchestra musicians moving out of the traditional concert hall and into the church space. This creates a rare closeness between performers and audience for large orchestral productions. The project combines professional music-making with educational frameworks that invite children to explore music’s emotional and narrative power.
